It’s not really that you’re anti-AI — it’s that you want your writing differentiable from that of AI. That’s what PasadoDocs enables. Think of it like organic farming: your words, in a simple writing surface, growing, forming, and taking shape, naturally.

A writing surface with three key aspects:

  • Accountability — Better source citing and tracking. A perfect record of where every word came from. A sidecar file to your document stores your transcript, a statistical and ledger-style accounting of the provenance of every paragraph in your document.
  • Recognition — Once you’ve written enough and achieved critical mass, your Core activates. When you paste something in, or migrate in a doc you wrote somewhere else, you’ll get real analysis of whether it sounds like AI, or sounds like you. Nothing is perfect, but your Core, recognizing you, is as close as you can get.
  • Ergodics — spiral, raindrop, backwards, footnoting, mathematics, multilingual support in the same document, it’s all there. Don’t see what you are looking for? Simply report an issue and describe what you desire.

We marked this whole site with our own tool

One of the first things I did was feed all of my writings into the backside engine to build a core. Every piece of prose on this website was then fed to the same machine that identifies authorship. Scrims — the provenance bands PasadoDocs paints in the app — wrap everything. I placed them by hand; a script counted them.

Across the pages tagged so far: 78.8% the Inventor’s own words · 2.9% AI-assisted · 18.3% AI-generated (public-domain quotes & academic citations excluded). This landing page, honestly, is almost all AI-generated marketing copy — the Inventor’s own words live in the essays.

Need to paste something in? You can — but there's a record of it, and you can work it until it's yours. A stack of metrics grounded in physics and linguistic science builds what we call your Core; comparing new writing against it shows you where to make sure every word is genuinely your own. The engine learns as you type, so it only gets better at recognizing you.

Your Core grows with you

The more you write, the more your Core has to go on. If you start using PasadoDocs as a freshman, by the time you graduate high school you will have years of your own writing behind it.

To be clear about what shapes it: PasadoDocs does not use your typing speed or keystroke rhythm to build your Core — how you write is what shapes it, not how fast you type. Your Core comes from your writing itself — the words, the phrasing, and how you shape and revise a draft — computed on your own machine.

In held-out testing on 19th-century literary prose, PasadoDocs told a writer apart from an unseen impostor with an error rate of about 11% at a balanced setting on a seven-author panel, rising to about 16% as the pool grew to 39 authors. Those are figures on literary prose; the number for a large, present-day population of writers is not yet measured.

A small Core is a rough guide and a well-fed one is surer. The science is early, and we keep improving it.

Your statistics are stored locally only — they never leave your machine. You can see your progress any time under the ⚙ gear settings, along with other things you can control.

An accidental side-effect: AI writing looks different

PasadoDocs is built for one purpose — helping a writer verify their own words are their own. To compare your writing against something, we build reference "cores"; for contrast, we generated a few from AI writing. The surprise: those AI cores came out distinct — AI writing seems to carry a uniqueness that separates it from how humans write. We never set out to build an AI detector. We stumbled onto a signal.

Please read this. The authorship science here — both matching you to your own Core and this AI-likeness signal — is very early, nascent, and developing. Any findings are preliminary and evolving fast. For now, treat every result as entertainment only: a thing to explore, never a verdict, never evidence, and never a basis for an accusation or a decision about anyone. The writing surface is real and yours to keep — it's the scoring that's still early.

Compare a pasted passage against the AI cores and you'll get a gentle nudge — "hey, you might want to reword this, it reads a little AI-like." A similarity signal, never a claim or accusation. Your own typing is never compared against an AI core — only things you paste in. Every copy/paste is tracked in the Transcript, so you never lose track of what came from where.

The Scribble

My favorite feature is something I call the Scribble — a multi-branch history of what you typed. Backspace over something and later wish you hadn't? It's easy to recover just that line, or word. Don't want it? Turn it off in the ⚙ settings.

Math and logic on tap

For the science writers among us: the palette deck holds formatting, symbols, Greek letters, and logic — a keystroke away. Roll your mouse over anything and it shows you a description and the hotkey to reach it fast.

What it will & won't do

It will

  • Give you a full-featured surface for drafting and shaping prose — built for writers, by a writer.
  • Keep a Transcript that shows the words are yours, and check new writing against your Core once it's established.
  • Let AI suggest and organize, and offer a similarity signal on passages you paste in.

It won't

  • Be a page-layout or office tool — no spreadsheets, slideshows, or print-shop formatting.
  • Write for you. AI is never allowed to place words in your document on its own — you are always the author.
  • Compare your own typing against an AI core, or make accusations.
  • Be an information-governance or surveillance tool. You don't police anyone else with PasadoDocs — you use it on your own writing, to make yourself a better, more consistent writer.

A licence you can actually read. PasadoDocs ships with a plain-language licence — no legalese wall, just a handful of honest points you can read in a couple of minutes. It says in plain words what these promises mean: this is a tool for your own writing, not a way to police anyone else.

Your privacy matters enormously to us. The patterns that truly identify and profile you as a writer never leave your machine — we do not transmit them to our servers. The only thing the app ever sends us about your writing is a sha256 hash and an opaque document id. A hacker could grab that database and it would be 100% useless to them. Two things you type on this website do reach us, because you chose to send them: the email address you enter to join the beta, and the text of a problem report if you file one. What's a hash? I explained them to my daughter and she said, "Oh, so you store the cookie, not the recipe." It's kind of like that. Your work saves as ordinary, readable text on your local machine — so you can back it up anywhere you like: a cloud drive, a USB stick, a git repo. Only the hashes ever reach us, so your backups stay as private as everything else. Know this: WE CANNOT RESTORE A DAMAGED FILE — if something happens to it and you haven't backed it up, it's lost, so safeguard your work; we don't do it for you and never will. And if you edit the file directly to test the system, we won't ban you; the system simply detects the tampering and flags it in your Transcript. And if you try to game the system, we welcome it — no bounty yet, but stay tuned.
